Obverse: Narrow head; 13 stars. 1st star to left of bust point; initials DN below bust. Same as BG-407 and BG-408.
Reverse: HALF D. CALIFORNIA GOLD outside of wreath; 1853 within wreath; the 3 has a round top and the bow is almost triangular. There are ten berries on the left branch and 12 on the right.

- Die State-2: Cracks at NIA G and from wreath to 3.
