SOLD
SKU
1515742002
The obverse design was taken from the issued 1853 quarter eagle, but the reverse shows the denomination ONE CENT within a laurel wreath. Struck with a reeded edge in an alloy of 60% copper and 40% nickel. This design was also struck in copper and billon. Each of the three compositions has approximately a half dozen examples known. This is a bright example whose nickel content dictates the finish and color.
