Obverse: 8 stars; stars very close to border except 2nd and 3rd; bust point aims directly at 1st star; 4th star is directly above the tip of the coronet.
Reverse: ‘* CALIFORNIA GOLD *’ and ‘DERI’ outside of beaded circle. 1 DOLLAR 1853 within the cricle; the 1 is perpendicular with the left portion of the N in CALIFORNIA; DOLLAR is parallel with the 1st A in CALIFORNIA and the L in GOLD; The 3 in the date and the right star are close to the circle. (Same as BG-523).
