1850-O $10 Liberty Head Eagle PCGS AU58
The 1850-O Liberty $10 gold piece, with its attractive yellow-golden coloration, is rare in AU grades, which makes this offering from AUCM an important opportunity for specialists in New Orleans gold.
Doug Winter writes, "The 1850-O eagle is relatively common in VF and EF grades. It is very scarce in properly graded AU50 to AU53 and very rare in AU55 to AU58." There are only three graded mint state by PCGS, making the acquisition of such almost impossible. The highest grade NGC has awarded the 1850-O is MS60 (3 pieces). The mintage is 57,500, and PCGS has graded 8 in AU58, with 3 finer. This is a truly rare antebellum issue from the historic New Orleans Mint.
