1802 $1 Draped Bust Silver Dollar, Narrow Date BB-241 PCGS VF35
Here’s a more affordable 1802 Draped Bust dollar in the very collectible grade of VF35. The BB-241 Narrow Date is a popular 1802 silver dollar variety, easily surpassing the availability of all other 1802 varieties combined. The right foot of the T in LIBERTY is missing on all BB-241 dollars, serving as an easily noticed diagnostic along with the Narrow Date.
Heritage cataloger Brian Koller notes, "Due to the wide space between 18 and 02, the Normal Narrow Date is a misnomer for BB-241, especially in comparison with BB-232. Nonetheless, the name has lasted, and BB-241 commanded its own Guide Book listing through the 2020 edition. The 2021 and 2022 editions inadvertently omit the normal date 1802 business strike."
PCGS has graded a total of 58 of the BB-241 variety. Of those, there are 8 in VF35 with 34 finer. Collectors Universe gives the BB-241 a prices of $4,000.00 in VF35.
