1800 $1 Draped Bust Silver Dollar, 'AMERICAI' BB-192 NGC MS 65 Ex. Newman/EHR Green
Condition rarity par excellence!
Previously owned by numismatic legends, this specimen has everything going for it. NGC has graded 4 as MS65 with a sole piece finer (MS66). Eric P. Newman was known for collecting coins with eye appeal beyond compare and this offering from AUCM is no exception.
A pedigree beyond compare: both Eric P. Newman (above) and Col. E.H.R. Green (below) owned this stunner. Just imagine having this beauty in your collection!
There is slight "wave" die clashing above the date that confirms the middle die state, with additional die clashing visible throughout the two bottom right-hand stars. The BB-192 variety (along with BB-191) has the distinctive "AMERICAI" reverse, with a die-making flaw that vaguely resembles an "I" after AMERICA. BB-192 is the more common representative of this popular Guide Book variety. However, in its superior gem grade it is in no way common. The final 0 in 1800 and star number 13 practically touch the bust, and the uppermost point on star 8 is near the top-right serif of the Y in LIBERTY. This is a stunning gem Mint State example with reflective luster and rich golden and russet toning around the rims.
