World Silver - 1680-86 Austria 2 Thaler NGC AU55
Dramatic piece of Austrian Hapsburg history with rich dark golden patina. Features image of Leopold I "The Hogmouth" who ruled from 1658-1705. Possibly due to inbreeding among his ancestors, the hereditary Habsburg jaw was quite prominent in Leopold. He was nicknamed "the Hogmouth" due to his jaw being presented unusually large upon a 1670 coin. There have been 8 total of this issue graded by NGC. Two carry the grade of AU55 with 2 finer. The obverse presents an armored Leopold with his long hair down over his shoulders facing right. Around: LEOPOLDVS D G ROM IMP S A G H B REX. The reverse offers the crowned Austrian eagle.
